UH softball: Wahine swept by Boise State
Boise State completed a series sweep against Hawaii by taking both ends of a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader today at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Broncos jumped out to a six-run lead and held off a UH comeback to win the first game 7-4. Boise State then rallied from a 2-0 deficit to finish off the sweep with a 3-2 win in the finale.
Boise State improved to 29-15, matching its win total of last season, and 12-3 in the WAC, staying two games behind first-place New Mexico State and one behind Fresno State. Hawaii fell to 30-16 and 8-7 with its fourth straight loss.
BSU’s Devon Bridges and Christina Capobianco both hit two-run homers in the first game in support of starter Allie Crump. In the second game, Crump delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning and Aubray Zell earned her second complete-game win of the series.
UH’s Kaia Parnaby started the opener and threw 3 2/3 innings of relief in the second game and took the losses in both.
The Rainbow Wahine close the home schedule next weekend with a three-game series against New Mexico State.
