Wie in contention with 67 at Kraft Nabisco Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.>> Hawaii’s Michelle Wie bolted from the brink of missing the cut into contention today in the second round of the 40th annual Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Wie shot a 5-under-par 67 and has a share of ninth in the year’s first major, with half the field still on the Mission Hills Country Club course. Her halfway total is 3-under 141. Stacy Lewis has the early lead at 9-under 135 after following up a 66 with a 69.

The Punahou School graduated carded six birdies and one bogey on a course where she has had success in the past. She is averaging nearly 300 yards off the tee and needed only 24 putts in her second round after managing 31 in the first.
