Big waves hit north and west shores

A high surf advisory is in effect through tomorrow for north and west-facing shores of Oahu, Kauai and Niihau; Maui’s north shore and the Kona Coast.

The National Weather service says a large northwest swell will produce surf of 16 to 22 feet on Oahu’s north shore and wave heights could reach 18 to 24 feet on north and west shores of Kauai and Niihau. West Oahu shores may see surf of 10 to 16 feet; while the north shore of Maui may see wave heights of 15 to 20 feet.

While not advisory level, a small south swell is producing surf of 1 to 3 feet at Diamond Head, Waikiki, Ala Moana
