The Navy is planning a security training drill in Hawaii and Guam and across the mainland through Friday.

"Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield 2011" is the largest anti-terrorism and force protection exercise conducted annually by the Navy.

Navy officials said the exercise, starting Tuesday in Hawaii, may cause traffic increases and delays around the bases and in base access.

Additionally, the Navy’s "Giant Voice" public address system will be used, and may be audible to residents who live or work near Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, officials said.

The Navy said as the exercise takes place across the country, base personnel will likely see enforcement and emergency management teams responding to drills.

Exercise scenarios range from recognizing and countering base surveillance operations to responding to simulated emergencies such as a small boat attack on the waterfront or discovery of suspicious powdery substance in a public area.

Other events nationwide could include bomb simulated threats, bomb explosions and shootings, the Navy said.
