Today’s Wahine softball game canceled

The University of Hawaii softball game today against Texas State has been canceled due to emergency changes in the Bobcats’ travel plans.

The Rainbow Wahine will next head to Las Vegas for the Louisville-Slugger Desert Classic hosted by UNLV, Feb. 18-20. Teams in that tournament include Utah, Long Beach State, No. 20 Oregon, No. 14 Stanford and Cal State Northridge.

Also today, UH softball pitcher Stephanie Ricketts was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week of Feb. 7-13.

Ricketts, a junior from San Jose, Calif., earned three complete-game wins during opening weekend en route to Most Valuable Pitcher honors at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic.

She tallied a 0.37 ERA, allowing just one run in 19.0 innings while striking out 25 batters to just one walk in three games.

Ricketts fired a pair of shutouts over Texas State and UC Davis.
