A car crashed into the First Insurance Building on Beretaina Street just past Ward this morning. Two people went to the hospital.

Police have dropped an attempted murder investigation against a woman who crashed into a building on South Beretania Street after driving frantically for several blocks with her former boyfriend on the hood Wednesday.

Instead, detectives are now investigating the man on possible counts of terroristic threatening and criminal property damage, a police spokeswoman said this afternoon.

The Honolulu woman, 46, was sent to the hospital with serious injuries while the man, 44, was in critical condition. Both remained hospitalized.

Police said the man and woman were arguing at the Beretania Times Super Market parking lot when the woman began driving away with the man on her hood.

The car weaved along Beretania for about half a mile before jumping the curb and crashing into the mauka wall of the First Insurance Building just after the Ward Avenue intersection.

Witnesses said the man was pinned between the car and the wall.

Police Maj. Richard Robinson told reporters Wednesday that the woman had filed a temporary restraining order against the man, but that the TRO had not yet been served.
