Board of Water Supply crews repaired an 8-inch water main that broke near Ala Wai Elementary School overnight and re-opened Hihiwai Street at about 2:50 p.m.

The break at 2444 Hihiwai Street between Lauiki and Kamoku streets was reported at 2:40 a.m. after crews repaired the broken pavement.

 Ala Wai Elementary School, which is in winter recess, and a high-rise building at 2444 Hihiwai Street were without water until about 1 p.m.,

Meanwhile, McCully Street between Lime Street and Kapiolani Boulevard, remained closed this morning while crews repaired roadway damaged by another main break. The pipe was fixed last night, but repairs to the street were expected to continue through the morning rush hour.
