St. Clement’s to hold Christmas fair

The public is invited to the "Christmas in Bethlehem" Fair at the Parish of St. Clement, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at 1515 Wilder Ave.

The fair will include live Nativity scene pageants, readings and carols, and Bethlehem-themed children’s games, crafts and face painting. Other offerings include a food court including barbecue and Tongan and Mediterranean foods.

The Cherubim Marketplace will feature baked goods, jams and preserves; and the Bazaar will offer unique and handcrafted goods.

Poinsettia plants will be sold for $10 each but can be ordered in advance for $8.

The chance to win trips and luxury items will be available in the Three Kings Silent Auction.

Event introduces kids to St. Nicholas

St. Nicholas Episcopal Church is inviting children 10 and under to an afternoon of free crafts, snacks and storytelling about the original Santa Claus: St. Nicholas. It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at the church, in Island Pacific Academy, at 909 Haumea St. in Kapolei.

Children are asked to bring a can of cat or dog food to be donated to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. St. Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers and children, will be introduced and share the story of his life.

Born during the third century near Myra, Turkey, Nicholas was born to wealthy parents who raised him as a devout Christian, a church release said. His parents died in an epidemic when he was a young boy, but Nicholas used his entire inheritance to assist the needy, the sick and the suffering.
