Officer’s arrest fourth in recent weeks
An Oahu police officer has been arrested, the fourth such incident in recent weeks.
Ewa Beach resident Ikaika Silva, 27, was arrested Oct. 7 for investigation of abuse of a household member. He was charged and released on $2,000 bail. He will appear in Family Court on Oct. 25.
Police confirmed Tuesday that Silva is a police officer working out of District 8, the Kapolei substation. He has been a police officer since 2007.
Silva was reassigned and his police powers limited, a police spokeswoman said.
Officer Scott J. Valdez was arrested Sept. 23 for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and criminal property damage. Valdez this month pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case involved a confrontation while he was on duty.
Lt. Jason K. Kawabata was arrested Sept. 16 for abuse of a household member, but the prosecutor’s office declined to proceed on the case because there was not enough evidence to support the allegation.
