Pearl City home damaged by fire
A fire partially damaged a four-bedroom home in Pearl City this morning, leaving a family displaced at least for the day.
The blaze started in a rear bedroom of the Palekaiko Street house about 10:30 a.m. and was under control by 10:48, said Honolulu Fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
A woman sleeping in another portion of the house was awakened by a neighbor and was able to escape injury, Seelig said. Two other occupants were not home at the time of the fire.
Damage was estimated to be $80,000 and the American Red Cross was called to provide assistance.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, Seelig said.
