Injured hang glider pilot rescued
A fire rescue crew airlifted an injured hang glider pilot off the mountain near Makapuu yesterday afternoon.
Paragliders hiking to their launch site on the Kalama Valley side of the Makapuu Cliffs found the man about 2:30 p.m.
The pilot did not have major injuries but appeared disoriented, a fire department spokesman said. The hang glider was flown by helicopter off the mountain and taken to the hospital. The man was described as a man in his fifties.
