General fund deposits in July dropped about 0.6 percent compared with July 2009, the state reported yesterday.

State tax revenues were about $335.3 million, compared with $337.5 million in July 2009.

The month ended with $148 million in collections. That is because the state paid out $187.4 million in delayed tax refunds from last tax season.

General excise and use tax collections dropped by 4.4 percent in July with collections of about $191.8 million. Transient accommo- dations taxes, including revenue from tourists and the convention center, went up by 3.8 percent with about $15.3 million collected.
