Entertainers join event at museum

Bishop Museum tomorrow celebrates the first anniversary of the reopening of Hawaiian Hall with a special Family Sunday event, "Hanohano Na Paia."

In addition to exhibit tours and children’s activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., entertainment on the Great Lawn will feature the Ladies of Ka’ahumanu Society, Cola Voce, Kahuli Nu’u, the Kamehameha Alumni Glee Club and Nanakuli High School.

Admission is $17.95; $14.95 for ages 4 to 12 and seniors older than 65; younger children, free. There are discounted Family Sunday admission rates of $5 for Hawaii residents and military families. Additional event parking is available at Kapalama Elementary School.

Get your golf game on

Jungle River Mini Golf at Pearlridge is hosting its Ohana Summer Fun Day tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with discounted golf admission and $1 hot dogs and drinks.

Free games and arts-and-crafts activities will be provided, with prizes from Jungle River Mini Golf, Hawaiian Airlines, Kelsey’s Baby Specialties and Big City Diner. For more information, call 488-8808.

The hills are alive

The Kaimuki Public Library will host a "Let’s Play Bingo" game session for folks of all ages at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Young Adult Section. Prizes will be awarded during the free one-hour program.

Fish as art

Ever wonder how tropical fish make it to the pet store? At the Living Art Marine Center, visitors can get an inside peak at the marine ornamental fish business.

Tropical fish tanks, an aquaponics garden and a shark museum are among the highlights of the center’s public tours newly offered on Wednesdays and weekends. The 90-minute guided tours begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the facility, which is located near the airport on Ualena Street.

The "Tour the Six Oceans Display" allows visitors to learn about different marine environments, and other exhibits feature a clown fish breeding area and a "touch tank" where folks can get an up-close-and-personal encounter with hermit crabs and starfish.
