Ever run for public office? If so, when? Outcome?

Other civic experience or community service?

Anything else you’d like voters to know about you?

What makes you qualified to be prosecutor?

I’ve served as Honolulu’s prosecutor for 14 years. I brought innovative programs to Hawaii: Drug Court and the Courthouse Dog. I’m on the board of directors of the National District Attorneys Association and organized and hosted two international summits with Asian prosecutors in drug and sex trafficking.

What are your top five priorities for the prosecutor’s office?

My priorities are domestic violence, sex assault, elder abuse, cyber crime, and animal cruelty. These priorities are based upon my belief that the prosecutor must speak for the most vulnerable among us.

What is your one big idea?

Honolulu Family Justice Center provides long term secured transitional housing for victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and sex assaults. The center, run by the prosecutor’s office, provides services, education, job training and placement to help victims escape the environment of violence and regain their self-esteem and independence.

Why are you running for prosecutor?

To me, the prosecuting attorney’s job begins and ends with public safety. That is what drives every decision my office makes. That is my pledge to you.
