Henry Kapono brought the popular tunes of Cecilio & Kapono back to life at the Waikiki Shell on Saturday, with help from Kalapana, Jerry Santos, Keola Beamer, Amy Hanaiali‘i, Na Leo Pilemehana, Brother Noland, Robi Kahakalau, Alx Kawakami, Josh Tatofi and Kalani Pe‘a. The Hawaii Convention Center hosted a family friendly night of music on Sept. 14 with entertainment by former “American Idol” contestant DeAndre Brackensick and musicians Evan Khay, Keilana, Izik, Mango Season and Ho‘okena. “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which was filmed in Hawaii, was also screened, while a pop-up market featured items from local food and retail vendors. Razed in Black gave its first concert in Hawaii in 15 years on Saturday at NextDoor in Chinatown. Known for its Goth-industrial sound, Razed in Black was started in 1994 by Ewa Beach native Romell Regulacion and became the most successful group of its kind from Hawaii, with credits on movie, television and video game scores. DJs Nocturna, Du Nord and Nightfox and exotic entertainers also performed. See gallery

Local performers Mike Love, Anuhea and Makua Rothman joined Los Angeles-based Allah-Las and Australian rockers The Babe Rainbow on stage for the Sept. 7 show, with Japanese bands and Streetlight Cadence performing the next evening.
