Six new cases of dengue fever reported on Hawaii island

State health officials identified six new cases of dengue fever today, bringing the total number on Hawaii island to 230.
Of the six new cases, three are potentially infectious, officials said. Overall, 208 of the confirmed cases are Hawaii island residents while 22 are visitors.
This is the first cluster of locally acquired dengue fever since the 2011 outbreak on Oahu.
According to the state Department of Health, 188 of the victims were adults while 42 were children, with an onset of illness ranging from Sept. 11 to Jan. 16.
As of today, 962 reported potential cases have been excluded based on test results or not meeting case criteria, officials said.

Yes, a cluster of dengue fever cases. What they mean is a cluster screw.
This weekly running tally of new dengue cases is silly. What is the Dept of Health doing about this? That is what the public also wants to know.
Come on SA do some real reporting some time.
Best place to be a mosquito is in warm, Hawaii. Lots of empty HI5 containers to breed in, waiting for months on end to be redeemed. Time to convert this fee to a non refundable fee so that we will have no incentive to save the cans.
