Honolulu City Lights will get underway this evening as a largely drive-by nightly event. Due to the pandemic, most of the annual in-person activities — the tree-lighting ceremony, the public workers electric light parade, holiday concerts, and displays inside Honolulu Hale — are suspended.
However, picture-taking will be allowed in front of displays including Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele (both sporting masks) and a festively trimmed 50-foot Norfolk pine centerpiece. Also, a TV special highlighting 35 years of City Lights is being broadcast on OLELO53 this month. For more information, visit www.honolulucitylights.org.
