Due to the COVID-19 threat, it’s fitting that the 50th Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving meal service on Oahu will involve drive-thru food box and meal distribution rather than the annual gathering at Blaisdell Center. While this means fewer opportunities for volunteers to offer in-person good cheer, there’s still plenty of community need for assistance.

Through Monday, Foodland and Sack N Save customers can make donations at checkout through the “Share a Holiday Feast” program, and monetary donations can be made at hawaii.salvationarmy.org. In response to the pandemic, the Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division has so far distributed upwards of 200,000 meals and 49,000 food boxes.
