City reports another Honolulu city bus driver has tested positive for COVID-19
Another TheBus driver has tested positive for COVID-19, city officials confirmed today, the second one to be reported, so far, this week.
The news comes just after another TheBus driver confirmed a positive COVID-19 test on Tuesday.
Oahu Transit Services, which runs TheBus and TheHandi-Van, said the driver informed them he had tested positive today,
The driver experienced symptoms on Tuesday, and got tested the same day. Officials said the employee has been on leave since their last day of work Oct. 16, and that there is no exposure to the public or other employees.
Today’s case brings the total count of Oahu Transit Services that have tested positive for COVID-19 to 15. A total of 13 TheBus operators, and two TheHandi-Van operators, to date, have tested positive, an OTS spokesman said.
Five of TheBus operators who tested positive were on leave, and did not have exposure to the public or other employees.

OTS officials say they have taken steps to reduce the risk of infection while riding or operating a transit vehicle.
Those steps include installing plastic curtains on all buses to provide a barrier between drivers and passengers as they board; extra buses added on busy routes to provide more space for physical distancing; daily wiping of high touch surfaces; and nightly electrostatic spraying on buses.
All OTS employees undergo temperature checks daily. Wearing a face mask or covering is mandatory on TheBus and TheHandi-Van.
