Honolulu police arrested four robbery suspects Wednesday following a police chase that ended in a crash in Kalihi.

Officers responded to a robbery at a convenience store in Kalihi at about 11 a.m. When they arrived, four males fled in a vehicle that had been reported stolen in a burglary earlier Wednesday, said Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu.

The vehicle traveled through Kalihi to the Kaimuki/Waialae area before heading back to Kalihi where it crashed at the intersection of Likelike Highway and N. School St., Yu said.

The suspects reportedly struck at least one vehicle as they were fleeing from police.

Witness Chad Goldblach said he was traveling northbound on his moped in the area of Palama and N. School streets at about 12:10 p.m. when he heard “a bunch of sirens.”

“A white car came screaming around the corner of North School Street,” he said. Goldblach then observed the sedan hit a red Jeep as the suspects attempted to evade police in about 14 vehicles chasing after the sedan.

Joshua Naumu, who works as a meat cutter at Times Supermarket at the Kamehameha Shopping Center, said he was at the loading dock when he heard a loud crash at the intersection of Likelike Highway and N. School Street.

The four suspects then fled on foot to the shopping center where police apprehended them, according to Yu.

Police temporarily shut down the Kaneohe-bound lanes of the highway as police investigated. A white Honda Civic with damage to left and right side was observed at the scene. Officers reopened lanes just after 2:50 p.m.

Police arrested two men and two juvenile males on suspicion of armed robbery, burglary, auto theft and car break-in.
