The owners of Mama Mia Pizzeria have to take down their giant wall sign on the corner of King and McCully streets. The City Building Department cited the owners last month for the oversize sign and lack of a permit. “If that’s not a violation, I don’t know what is,” said Herbert K. Muraoka, director of building inspection for the department.

In a scene from “Hawaii,” a film based on James Michener’s novel of the same name, Hawaii’s Ali‘i Nui Malama Kanakoa, played by Jocelyne LaGarde, is hoisted onto the missionary ship Thetis when it arrives in Lahaina. The multimillion-dollar production, which also stars Julie Andrews, Max von Sydow and Richard Harris, is set for release in the fall of 1966.
