Honolulu police arrest man, 40, after fatal stabbing in Kakaako
Honolulu police arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with a deadly stabbing in Kakaako Wednesday night.
Police said the suspect and a 52-year-old man were involved in a physical altercation on Keawe Street near the intersection of Halekauwila Street shortly before 6:50 p.m.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times.
Lt. Deena Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department’s Homicide Detail said they believe the suspect resides in an apartment building in the area and the victim appeared to be homeless.
Emergency Medical Services responded and treated the victim for stab wounds to the front and back of his torso as well as wounds to his extremities. He was taken in critical condition to a hospital and died.
Positive identification is pending.

Responding officers located the suspect at the 600 block of Halekauwila Street and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Police are continuing the investigation and said charges are pending.
