Family identifies body found off Kaena Point as missing diver, 15
UPDATE: 1:42 p.m.
Family members and friends converged at the Waianae Boat Harbor today to console and pay their respects to the parents of a 15-year-old boy identified as Noeau Lima whose body was recovered by fire rescue crews off of Yokohama Bay this morning.
Lima’s father, Michael Lima, thanked the community for their overwhelming support and declined further comment.
Loved ones softly sang “Hawaii Aloha” and prayed together in remembrance of Lima who they described as a good and responsible diver.

Family members have identified the body found off of Kaena Point today as the missing 15-year-old boy, according to Honolulu Fire spokesman Capt. Jeffrey Roache.

Firefighters found the teenager identified by relatives as Noeau Lima in waters between Kaena Point and Yokohama Bay at about 7:20 a.m.
According to his father, Lima was last seen diving at the bay at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
More than 10 firefighters including Air 1 launched a search for the Lima at about 5:30 p.m. Roache said they suspended the search just before 7:50 p.m. after they scoured the waters to no avail.
Fire rescue crews resumed the search just before 4:50 a.m. today and found Lima more than two hours later in waters approximately 100 yards from the shoreline between Kaena Point and Yokohama Bay.
8:30 a.m.
Honolulu firefighters found a body today off of Kaena Point near an area where a missing 15-year-old boy was last seen diving.
Positive identification is pending.
Relatives said Noeau Lima was reported missing after he was last seen diving in the waters at Yokohama Bay Tuesday morning.
In a video circulated on Facebook Tuesday, his father, Michael Lima, pleaded to the public to help find his son.
According to his father, Noeau Lima went diving with his uncle at Yokohama Bay on kayaks.
The teen was last seen at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters found the body approximately 100 yards from the shoreline.
7:35 a.m.
Honolulu Ocean Safety resumed its search today for a missing 15-year-old boy off of Kaena Point.
A relative last saw the teenager diving in the waters in the area.
PREVIOUS COVERAGE
The Honolulu Fire Department has suspended its search for a missing swimmer near Kaena Point.
HFD reported a missing swimmer around 5:40 p.m. and called off the search around 8:40 because of darkness.
It will resume its search at first light.
