Hawaii’s Rado Parapunov (19), Max Rosenfeld (13) and Chaz Galloway (1) made a block against BYU outside hitter Zach Eschenberg (11) during the third set at Friday’s match.
The season is over for University of Hawaii athletics and the rest of the college sports world.
The NCAA today announced the cancellation of all remaining winter and spring competitions, including all championship tournaments.
This particularly impacts the second-ranked Rainbow Warrior volleyball and fourth-ranked Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball teams. The Warriors (15-1) had their matches at Cal State Northridge, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, as well as Tuesday’s match at Pepperdine canceled earlier today. Hawaii was scheduled to return to Honolulu Friday.
The SandBows (7-2) were at the airport, headed to the Stetson Beach Blast in Deland, Fla., when the announcements began. It started today with the Big West suspending play in all spring sports, that suspension turning into complete cancellation by the NCAA.
When reached, Hawaii coaches deferred comment to UH administration.
