Shark sighting closes Kauai beach
Kauai officials closed Waiohai Beach in Poipu today because a shark was spotted offshore.
Lifeguards said a roughly 9-foot grey reef shark was seen offshore.
As a precaution, officials closed the beach to swimming and posted shark warning signs at the beach.
The beach will remain closed until at least Tuesday when lifeguards will reassess whether it can be reopened.
