Your editorial, “Corrupt Kealohas betrayed public” (Star-Advertiser, Our View, Oct. 24), didn’t go far enough.
Recently, the acting head of the Prosecutor’s Office, Keith Kaneshiro’s handpicked successor, stated his view that nothing more needs to be done since the feds continue to investigate. As your editorial correctly noted, it has been dispiriting that “the due diligence that should have happened on the local level, all along” was not done.
What about the status of the cases that were tried by Katherine Kealoha, or perhaps not tried as a result of her actions? The state Attorney General’s Office should undertake a probe of all past actions of the Kealohas with respect to the criminal matters handled by the Prosecutor’s Office. There are just too many unknowns for anyone to definitively state that everything is fine.
