I don’t like how the Mauna Kea dispute is depicted as Hawaiians versus everyone else. Like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said when he visited the mountain: This is not just about the mauna. This represents Hawaii.
A Hawaii where any sort of “development” and “growth” is considered good and there is absolutely no concept of “enough.” How many telescopes do we really need to gaze at distant galaxies?
How many more tourists every year? We have 9.9 million now, then we’ll have 10 million, then 10.5 million.
How many more military construction projects? Military clean-up projects is what we really need!
