In reading “Odds Rising on Recession” (Star-Advertiser, Insight, Sept. 1), neither commentary suggested what consumers should do to hunker down in the storm of a recession.
In light of the fact that American households face price increases on Chinese imports (Star-Advertiser, Aug. 30), the only bright side of such tariffs is that they will force us to buy less and save more. Hawaii is a place where you see people who live in a small apartment owning a gas-guzzling SUV, or fast-food workers borrowing to buy the newest version of the iPhone.
If we don’t change our behavior, we will always live in hardship.
