Las Vegas Advisor: Conversion of Hard Rock calls for lengthy closure
The plan for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s rebranding and conversion to Virgin Las Vegas has been changed for a second time.
It was originally announced that the resort would operate as the Hard Rock, without closing, until the transition was completed in next spring. That plan was altered to push the opening to the end of 2020 and include a four-month closure. Now a further revamped schedule calls for the resort to close completely between Feb. 4 and the reopening, sometime in November or December.
Aloha, Hawaiian Marketplace: A New York-based investment firm has bought a 9.5-acre Strip parcel that included the defunct Hawaiian Marketplace, with plans to raze the buildings and open “a new flagship retail, entertainment and dining experience.” The parcel was purchased in the early 2000s for an Elvis Presley-themed casino, but is now deemed more valuable as retail space.
Return to Red Rock: The Italian restaurant Terra Rossa has opened at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, replacing Masso Osteria. It’s the second go-round for Terra Rossa, which debuted with the opening of Red Rock and operated there until 2015.
New show at the Sahara: The international production “Blanc de Blanc” has debuted at the Sahara. The Australian-produced show can be watched from hot tubs — for the price of a VIP ticket, guests soak and drink Champagne while watching acrobats, aerialists, circus acts and dancers perform. “Blanc de Blanc” has been performed in 32 countries since opening in 2016. Tickets start at $49.

Answer: Zenshin Asian Restaurant serves sushi, but not an AYCE deal, which was erroneously reported (though there’s a sushi sampler for $20). The two casino-based restaurants that offer all-you-can-eat sushi deals are Rikki Tiki Sushi at Westgate Las Vegas ($28.88) and Boathouse at Palace Station ($17.95).
