Man charged with burglarizing Kaheka condo high-rise
City prosecutors have charged a man who police arrested after releasing photos of a suspect in a string of Waikiki hotel arson fires with burglarizing a Kaheka condominium high-rise during another fire alarm.
They charged Adrian Cook, 36, Thursday with burglarizing Holiday Village Condominium on Amana Street on Aug. 1. The Honolulu Fire Department responded to the alarm but did not find a fire.
Honolulu police arrested Cook on unrelated identity theft and unlawful possession of confidential personal information charges last week after publicly releasing pictures of what appears to be the same man inside the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger and Hilton’s Grand Waikikian Suites that were captured by surveillance cameras when the hotels caught fire on separate days earlier this month.
Cook remains in custody on $50,000 bail. He had been free on $11,000 bail on other identity theft and unlawful-possession charges. After his arrest his bail bond company withdrew its bail guarantee.
