I almost fainted when I read Cal Thomas’ column, “Trump’s heedless message: You must vote for me or else” (Star-Advertiser, Aug. 20). I never dreamed I could agree with anything he wrote.
Joining the apparently growing list of current and former Donald Trump supporters who obviously have had enough of his nonsensical, bloviating, rambling and, in Thomas’ word, “insulting” rants, he is finally distinguishing between Trump’s economic message and his bad, boorish, even dangerous words and behavior.
Deviating from the apologetic rationalizations I heard from friends and family who voted for Trump in 2016 — “We are doing this for the economy and jobs” — Thomas asks, “Is the economy all that matters?” and even quotes Bible passages on the dangers of the love of money.
Reports are coming in from former Trump insiders like Anthony Scaramucci and Rex Tillerson, and voters around the country suffering from “Trump Buyer’s Remorse,” that many people are tired and have had enough of this president’s daily whiplash of chaos, conflict and controversy.
