It took three years and a billion dollars, but Project Neon, the largest and most expensive public-works effort in Nevada history, was officially declared finished last week. The road work encompassed four miles of Interstate 15 between Sahara Avenue and the downtown Spaghetti Bowl, as well as 63 miles of repaving, 29 new bridges, 10 miles of drainage improvements, several new interchanges and ramps, surface-street-connection improvements, and new digital signage, which will go into effect in October. The result will hopefully be a smoother commute on 1-15, but roadwork continues in other parts of the valley, including the current $10.5 million five-mile upgrade of East Tropicana Avenue.

Drive-in movies: Las Vegas expects to have its second drive-in by the end of this summer. Burger51, a combo drive-in-movie theater and drive-thru burger joint, is in the early stages of construction in the northern suburbs. Burger51 will join the West Wind Drive-in Movie Theater, which opened in 1964.

AYCE sushi: Rikki Tiki Sushi at Westgate Las Vegas has a new all-you-can-eat sushi option for $28.88 that includes one sake. AYCE sushi deals are rare in Las Vegas casinos, with the only other currently offered at South Point.

Jackpot: A Three Card Poker player at the Venetian won a jackpot of slightly more than $1 million when he drew a royal flush in spades with a $5 wager on the Millionaire Progressive side bet. The new millionaire is the sixth to hit the progressive jackpot since the proposition was introduced about a year ago.
