Naomas Asuega-Fualaau rushed for three second-quarter touchdowns to lead the way for Kaimuki in a 37-0 rout over Kalaheo on Friday night.
Asuega-Fualaau ran for a game-high 90 yards on 12 carries at Farrington’s Skippa Diaz Stadium as the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 while the Mustangs dropped to 0-3.
Kaimuki quarterback Jayden Maiava got Kaimuki on the board in the first quarter with a 20-yard strike to Kaulana Kaluna on a third-and-14 situation.
The second quarter belonged to Asuega-Fualaau, who scored from 3, 12 and 1 yard out. He carried the ball 10 times for 88 yards in the first half and saw his workload in the second half decrease due to the large lead he helped build.
“My linemen were working hard, which made it easier for me,” he said. “They got their blocks in and it opened up the holes for me.”
The Kaimuki defense was stout, holding Kalaheo to just 36 rushing yards. The Division II Bulldogs face a tough test next week in a matchup at Division I contender ‘Iolani.
“We’ll be ready,” Kaimuki coach David Tautofi said of the challenge. “We’re just gonna go to the drawing board tonight and enjoy this victory and get ready for Monday. We know that they’re always good.”
