Jayden Maiava fired three TD passes and ran for another as the Kaimuki Bulldogs pulled away for a 34-12 victory over Pac-Five in the regular-season opener for each team at Skippa Diaz Stadium.
The Bulldogs broke a defensive battle with a 10-yard touchdown run to the left pylon by Maiava late in the first quarter.
Kaimuki extended the lead to 13-0 in the second quarter when Naomas Asuega-Fualaau broke off left tackle and sprinted down the sideline for a 49-yard TD.
Pac-Five got on the board with the help of Chase Hedani’s arm strength. The junior launched a 62-yard bomb to Kaala Tam to set up Pac-Five at the Kaimuki 3-yard line. Three plays later, Laitin Bradley recovered Bryson Ho’s fumble in the end zone for the WolfPack’s first TD with 1:46 to go in the half.
Maiava’s 5-yard fade pass to Koby Moananu in the end zone opened Kaimuki’s lead back to 14 points with 5:32 left in the third stanza. A 20-yard TD pass from Maiava to Moananu opened the lead to 27-6 points with 2:10 to go in the third.
