Honolulu Police Department officers gathered outside the emergency room at The Queen’s Medical Center after an officer was shot near Pokai Bay earlier today.

Honolulu police investigated an officer-involved shooting near Pokai Bay today.

A Honolulu police officer and a male suspect were shot around 1:40 p.m. today near Pokai Bay.

HPD said plainclothes officers were at a Waianae home investigating an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend when a shooting ensued.

The officer was transported to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition and the suspect was transported in serious condition. The officer is now in critical but stable condition.

The officer and the suspect, both in their 30s are currently undergoing treatment, according to HPD Maj. Joseph Trinidad.

Trinidad told reporters that the unidentified wounded officer has been on the job for about five years.

HPD plans to hold a news conference on Tuesday morning.
