Go “Under the Sea” with a youth performance of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid,” presented by the Pacific Academy of Performing Arts Friday-Sunday and July 26-28 at Hawaii Theatre Center.
The production is a culmination of the academy’s fifth straight summer intensive theater education program in partnership with Hawaii Theatre. The show is performed under the instruction and direction of J.P. Tai and the academy’s drama education professionals.
“There are several magical moments that make you feel like you’re under the sea — from outstanding costumes and stunning sets, to talented kiddos and a professional setting,” Tai said. “The show will not disappoint.”
The musical, based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale and iconic Disney film, features the passionate mermaid Ariel, a headstrong teenager, and the rest of the story’s memorable characters, including Sebastian the crab, Prince Eric and Ursula the Sea Witch. Beloved tunes, such as “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World,” are sure to get children and parents alike singing along.
“Families will enjoy the lessons of believing in your dreams, helping others and daring to do the impossible,” Tai said.
