A morning of art, animals and discovery awaits families at Keiki Scavenger Hunt: Animals at Shangri La, July 27 at Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design.

“This is our first time doing a scavenger hunt in the museum, so this is a very special opportunity for parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles to explore Shangri La with their keiki,” said Melissa Rand, associate curator of digital & emerging media.

Children and parents will have to work together to find nine different animals hidden in the artwork throughout the museum, Rand said.

“We’ll provide them with a book of clues and then they have 45 minutes to explore the galleries on their own and find the animals,” she said.

Organizers hope keiki will be inspired by the artwork because after the hunt, they’ll have an opportunity to create their own art.

>> Where: Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design; the museum will provide a shuttle to and from the Honolulu Museum of Art School, 1111 Victoria St. (no access will be granted to guests arriving at Shangri La directly); shuttle will pick up attendees in front of the school and leave at 9:45 a.m.
