Island Insurance Co. Ltd., the state’s largest locally owned property and casualty insurance carrier, has been recognized as one of the Top 50 P&C insurers in the nation by the Ward Group.

Island Insurance has been ranked among the top 50 for 12 consecutive years. The Ward’s Top 50 recognition places Island Insurance within the top 2% of the nation’s P&C insurers.

Ward Group provides industry benchmarking and best-practices services for the insurance industry. Each year, the company analyzes the financial performance of nearly 3,000 property and casualty insurance companies based in the United States and identifies its top performers.

ON THE MOVE

Kaiser Permanente has hired the following new physicians for Oahu and Maui:

>> Dr. Karolina Dembenski joins the pediatrics department at Kaiser’s Lahaina Clinic. She was previously a pediatrician at the Open Door Community Health Center in Crescent City, Calif.

>> Dr. Lex Mitchell practices diagnostic radiology at Kaiser Medical Center, Moanalua. He was previously associate program director for Tripler Army Medical Center’s diagnostic radiology department and serves as an officer for the Army Medical Corps.

>> Dr. Troy Maetani joins the diagnostic radiology department of Kaiser Medical Center, Wailuku. He was previously a clinical assistant professor at the University of Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill and a staff radiologist at New England Baptist Hospital and Faulkner Hospital in Boston.
