Local designer and kumu hula Sonny Ching and fashion designer Kanna Yamauchi from Okinawa will show their latest collections at Hui Makaala’s 50th annual scholarship lunch and fashion show July 21 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom.

The scholarship organization, which aims to preserve and perpetuate Okinawan heritage, has awarded more than $40,000 to Hawaii students for the 2018-2019 school year.

Along with the fashion show, the event features a shopping boutique and a silent auction.

The luncheon, which is nearly sold out, begins at noon, followed by the runway show at 1:30 p.m. The boutique opens at 9 a.m. Tickets are $85.
