Today’s youth will grow up in an era ruled by technology and robotics. Help them stay at the top of their game at Kalani Robotics Academy, an educational program for students in grades 1 to 8.
“The primary goal of the Kalani Robotics Academy is to introduce Hawaii’s younger generation to the wonders of STEM by giving them an introductory course in the designing, building and programming of robots,” said academy project manager Mija Wheeler, a Kalani junior.
The classes offered:
>> LEGO WeDo (recommended for grades 1 to 3): Construct and program projects out of specialized Legos. Learn core robotics concepts, such as programming and problem solving.
>> Coding With Kano (grades 5 to 8 recommended): Learn how to code. Class will offer students mini-Raspberry Pi’s to code and compute popular games, such as Minecraft and Pong.
>> LEGO EV3 (grades 4 to 6 recommended): Use special Legos to program advanced robots with ultrasonic, light and touch sensors.
>> VEX IQ (grades 4 to 6 recommended): Explore programmable robots using similar-to-Lego Vex parts. Create, program and pilot contraptions to accomplish a variety of interesting tasks.
