I found the mayor’s statement, “The jury reached a verdict and I respect the process and their decision. It’s time to move on,” a little odd (“Kealohas guilty,” Star-Advertiser, June 28).
It appears to mean, “I am glad it is over. Let’s forget everything that has happened,” without any apology to the public or show of embarrassment for an employee who disgraced his administration while under his watch.
Yes, he did issue another statement afterward that still did not address the fact that a horrible crime was committed and that he has chosen not to take responsibility for it.
To me this speaks volumes to all the good employees at the city who may make a mistake of much less magnitude but make the administration look bad. It makes one wonder what else is going on at the city. Time will tell when the rest of the trials begin and hopefully the truth will come out.
