What a strange pattern of brinkmanship that has come to define Donald Trump’s presidency. Take the Iran threat over the drone affair. He called for military action, then boasted when he called it off in the last 10 minutes, after learning that it would kill 150 people. How is it that collateral damage was not part of the original discussion? Strange.
Take the pressure placed on Mexico to stop the flow of immigrants across its southern border. At the last minute he backed away, claiming his toughness worked — when in fact, Mexico was simply following through with an agreement that was made in March with the then-director of Homeland Security. Trump didn’t even mention that.
I trust the American voters will in 2020 make sure this is the final season of his TV career.
