Hawaii National Bank is beginning a new student loan payment assistance program for eligible employees. The program adds to the bank’s employee benefits, which include a wellness program and subsidized transit.
Hawaii National Bank is offering the Student Loan PayDown program through Gradifi, which provides employee benefits for U.S. employers. The program allows employers to make direct contributions to an employee’s student loans. Hawaii National Bank is offering up to $100 a month to help employees repay their student debt. The program will be available to current and future full-time employees.
Hawaii National Bank is the state’s sixth-largest bank with 13 branches on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island.

First Insurance Co. of Hawaii has announced the following:
>> Todd Takayama has been elected senior vice president of Commercial Underwriting. He was previously the department’s vice president since 2014. Takayama first joined the Commercial Underwriting department of FICOH in 2010. After that he served as assistant vice president in 2011 and then was promoted in 2013 to vice president of Personal Lines.
>> Marie Weite is the new vice president of Claims. After 20 years of claims experience in Hawaii’s insurance industry, she served as a senior adjuster at FICOH in 2000. Weite then became the manager of Claims in 2014 and was promoted to assistant vice president of Claims one year later.
