Try and wrap your head around a city, including its mayor and Council, now poised to restrict property owners from renting their homes, essentially telling you what you can do with private property.
To me there appears to be some civil rights issues soon to be challenged. Conversely, the city is unable to keep homeless from living in our parks. Take that a step further and some homeless feel they have a right to negotiate for a free campsite. Maybe City Councilman Ron Menor should come to the rescue and fine them $10,000 a day.
Not to be discounted is the new partnership between Local 5 and the hotel lobby to influence lawmakers and slander local rentals as being bad for tourism. It appears Local 5 forgot about intimidating tourists during its month-long strike. It’s not by accident that many tourists want nothing to do with Waikiki or what it represents. We grow ever closer to a socialist state. Taxation without representation.
