A 23-year-old woman allegedly admitted to police that she stabbed her husband after he punched her at their Makakilo home, according to court documents.
Unique N. Watson made her initial court appearance before Judge Melanie May at Honolulu District Court on Tuesday after prosecutors charged her Monday with second-degree attempted murder. Her bail is set at $250,000.
Court documents said the couple’s neighbor saw them arguing in front of their residence on Panana Street at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
Watson and her husband, also 23, then entered their home, where they continued to argue. Police said the neighbor called 911 after she heard the dispute escalate with yelling and the sound of objects breaking.
The neighbor walked out of her home when she saw Watson’s husband step out of his residence covered in blood.
Police initially said the victim sustained stab wounds to his neck and shoulder; however, court documents say the husband sustained several stab wounds to his upper torso.
Police arrived and found Watson’s husband lying on the ground. He was bleeding profusely but still conscious.
Police said he was taken in critical condition to a
hospital and has since improved to stable condition.
Watson allegedly told
police, “He punched me in the face, so I stabbed him.”
Police recovered a kitchen knife from the home and arrested her on suspicion of attempted murder.
