I am very concerned about the light sentence given to Jerry Putnam by Circuit Judge Catherine Remigio (“Drunken driver gets 30 days in jail, probation for fatal hit-and-run collision,” Star-Advertiser, June 11).
Putnam was driving drunk in May 2017 and slammed into Paul Andrews, who was riding his moped on his way home from work. Putnam not only was drunk, but got out of his car to check to see if he had damage to his car, then left the scene, giving no aid to Andrews, who has a wife to support.
This sentence is truly unjust for someone who killed another human being. That moped rider could have been me, and I am fuming mad about this.
