Memorial services for former Hawaii head football coach Dick Tomey are scheduled to be aired by the Pac-12 Network on Friday beginning at 6 a.m., a network spokesman said.
They will be carried on the Pac-12 Network national and Pac-12 Arizona channels, the network said.
The services will be held at the McKale Center on the Arizona campus, where Tomey also coached after leaving UH in 1987.
The Tomey family said it hopes to hold additional services in Hawaii in July. The date and location have not been set.
Johnson to join Rainbow Wahine staff
Hawaii women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman announced Wednesday the addition of Paris Johnson to the 2019-20 coaching staff.
Johnson spent last season as an assistant coach at Utah State, helping the Aggies earn a bid into the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. Prior to that, she served as the director of player personnel at San Diego State.
Johnson is returning to her childhood home. She grew up in Laie until age 4, when her family moved to the mainland. She played at San Diego State from 2008-11 and finished her career with 1,598 points. She holds Aztec records for shot-blocking for a single game (nine), season (94) and career (267).
After a five-year professional career in Australia, Poland, Spain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, Johnson returned to her alma mater in 2016 as the director of player personnel and assistant recruiting coordinator. She held those roles for two seasons before leaving for Utah State.
