Letter: Lantern floating holds value for everyone

An estimated 50,000 people were expected on Ala Moana Beach to celebrate the Lantern Floating Ceremony on Memorial Day.

Those who oppose holding the ceremony on this day can gain a better view of the big picture of this event. It is a ceremony where all can come together for a personal and collective moment of remembrance, reflection and gratitude for those who have gone before us.

We are strengthened as a community as we reach out to support others and understand our common values. Many foreigners travel to attend this solemn occasion.
