Waianae, Makaha residents urged to continue conserving water as repairs resume

Police have shut down Mailiilii Rd. in both directions between Paakea Rd. and 86-300 Mailiilii Rd. as Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews resume repairs on a 20-inch water main that broke Thursday.

Residents from Kaukama Road in Waianae to Makaha are being asked to continue conserving water while repairs are made. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate traffic routes.

A second leak on the water line was repaired yesterday, but crews needed to wait for delivery of another part to make repairs to the initial break.

All affected customers in the area have water service, but are asked to use water for essential needs only, such as drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene.

The conservation request will continue through the weekend.
