Hawaii has the most courteous drivers on the planet but there are exceptions. One is Joel Maimon, who attempts to enforce the speed limit by driving in the left lane at the speed limit, creating a hazard while others have to go around him (“Speed limits on H-1 ignored by drivers,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, May 21).
Yes, speed limits are largely ignored everywhere. But it is much more dangerous to him and others to drive slower than the general speed of traffic. It forces other drivers to have to maneuver around them and makes it more likely there will be an accident. I am one of those giving him the stink eye.
